Hastings resident Franklin "Frank" Elias Hoover, 78, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011 at his home. Frank was born February 15, 1933, near Hazard, Nebraska, one of nine children to the late Seth and Grace (UpChurch) Hoover. As a young man he boxed with the Golden Gloves, and then went to serve his country with the Merchant Marines on February 7, 1951. Frank was a Horticulturist and owned Hoovers Green Leaf Arbor Service. He enjoyed gardening, drawing, painting, and wrote poetry. Frank was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren fishing. He was proud of his Indian heritage as a descendent of the Miami Tribe. Frank was a lifelong member of the LDS church, and the National Arborist Association. Frank is survived by: his wife Shirley of Hastings; daughter, Tammy Rocco and husband Anthony of Hastings; son David Hoover of Hastings; grandchildren, Lexie Burge and fiancé Kyler Atz of Hastings, Devani Hultman of Grand Island, Seth Burge, Dacia Hultman, Hailey Burge, and Noelle Melvin all of Hastings; great grandchildren, Cameron and NaKoa.
