Thomas Edward Kennemore , 76, of Heath died of cancer Friday at his home. He was retired as an operator for Dallas Water Utilities and was a member of the Rolling Sams of Kaufman Travel Club. He could be found almost every Sunday greeting members and guests as they entered First Baptist Church of Heath. "It was important to him to be welcoming to people, and he did that for probably about 20 years," said his daughter, Linda Aultman of Dallas. "He was one of those heroes no one knew about." "He and my mother built their home in Heath by hand," Ms. Aultman said. "He got a lot of books on carpentry and was completely self-taught." Mr. Kennemore continued to use his woodworking skills to build toy boxes for children in the family. He was honest, kind, loving and faithful, his daughter said. "He was quiet and soft-spoken with a sweet sense of humor," she said. "He was also very wise and always gave us advice when we needed it, but he was also incredibly humble." His son Tom Kennemore Jr. of Grand Prairie said his father was the kind of man everyone respected. "Think of the very best friend you ever had and that was him," he said. Other survivors include Mr. Kennemore's wife, Doris Kennemore of Heath; another son, Larry Rodgers of Houston; sisters Ann Merrell of Burkburnett, Texas, and Claudine Farmer of Austin; brother, Jerry Kennemore of Corsicana, Texas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services for Mr. Kennemore were held Monday at First Baptist Church of Heath. The Dallas Morning News, 20 Feb 2002 by Karin Shaw Anderson
