Bio

Jerry Kennemore, 82, passed away at Ennis Regional Medical Center on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Corsicana on Oct. 15, 1927, to Zema May and D.E. Kennemore. After attending school, he was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1946. He was an airplane and engine mechanic and was assigned to the 375th Rcn Sq. in Alaska. As a member of an airplane maintenance crew, he assisted in performing prescribed inspections and maintenance of B-29 type aircraft. After being honorably discharged, he married Mary Jurik. After a short stay in Ennis, they moved back to Corsicana to raise their family. He was employed by Stewart Motor Company for several years before opening his own business, Jerry's Body Shop, in 1970. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and a member of Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree. He was preceded in death by his parents, D.E. and Zema May Kennemore; his brother, Thomas Kennemore; and sisters, Doris Gay, Annie May Merrell, and Pauline Kennemore. He is survived by his wife, Mary Kennemore; one sister, Claudine Farmer of Austin; two daughters, Susan Valek and husband Donald of Ennis and Denise Gordon and husband Danny of Corsicana; son, Pat Kennemore and wife Laura of Corsicana; seven grandchildren, Jerry and Jason Valek, Jarod and Eric Gordon, Ragan Kennemore Nichols, and Jackson and Caroline Kennemore; and one great-grandson, Bralen Nichols. Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at Corley Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Danilo Ramos officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree members. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
