Lucinda Jane Whisennand was born the daughter of Stephen Holman Whisennand and Sarah Elizabeth Bailey. They are buried in this cemetery. Lucinda was born north of Troy Mills, Buchanan County, Iowa and died north west of Troy Mills, Buchanan County, Iowa. Lucinda was married to Arthur Martin Dudley on January 29, 1883 at her parents home Newton Township, Buchanan County, Iowa. He is buried in this cemetery. Arthur and Lucinda were life time farmers. Lucinda died from complications of gall bladder surgery at home. ~0bit~Lucinda Jane Whisennand was born March 22, 1860, and died June 29, 1915, being 55 years, 3 months and 7 days of age. She married January 29, 1883, to Arthur M. Dudley. To them were born six children: Willie R., Josie M., J. Clifford, Muriel I., Lowell A., and Dorothy G., all of whom were at her bedside during the last hours. Besides these there were left her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Bailey Whisennand, two sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Cherry of Walker, and Mrs. Mary Mahoney of Stanley, Iowa and ten grandchildren. Mrs. Dudley was born in Newton township near the place of first settlement and her home has been near there ever since. She had been a faithful member of the Christian Church since the summer of 1904. She became a member of Willow Rebekah Lodge July 10, 1901. She was a loving wife and mother, a true friend and a kind neighbor to any one in sickness or trouble, and she will greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services were held at 10 A.M., Thursay, July 1, from the Christian Church at Troy Mills, the sermon being by Rev. Lyburn M. Starr, of Marion. Interment was in the Troy Mills cemetery. Among the relatives from a distance who were in attendance at the last service were: Mrs. Mary Mahoney and family of Stanley; Mrs. William Henry Peyton, Jessie Peyton and Mrs. Nora Iehl, of Dows; Mr. and Mrs. Lou Gardner of Clarion; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bailey of St. Paul; Vincent Bailey of Hampton, and Mrs. James McKinley of Brandon.
