Bio

Muriel Isabel Dudley was born the daughter of Arthur Martin Dudley and Lucinda Jane Whisennand near Troy Mills, Buchanan County, Iowa. They are buried in this cemetery. She was married to Ernest Marcellus VanTasell on February 16, 1916 in Linn County, Iowa. He is buried in this cemetery. They were parents of two sons, Arlo Arthur Fredrick VanTasell buried Dysart, Iowa; LeMar ___ VanTasell buried in Okalahoma. Muriel died following gall bladder surgery in Independence, Iowa. ~0bit~Death called a worthy wife and mother, Mrs. Ernest M. VanTasell, 40, who passed away Thursday, November 3, 1932, at the People's Hospital, where she had been a patient for several day and where she had undergone a major operation recently. The funeral sevices were held Saturday afternoon, a prayer service at the home west of the Rock Island Depot at 1 o'clock and the services proper in the Methodist Church at Troy Mills at 2'clock. The Rev. Floyd H. Weed, of this city, officiated. Interment was in the Troy Mills Cemetery. The services were very largely attended, the church being unable to hold half of those present, showing the esteem in which this worthy woman was held. Muriel Isabel Dudley, daughter of Jane and Arthur Dudley, was born May 17, 1892, at Troy Mills, Iowa. After she finished her studies in the public schools she cared for her mother, in her last illness. (her mother died from gall bladder surgery also) On February 16, 1916, she was united in marriage to Ernest M. VanTasell. To this union two sons were born: Arlo Arthur Frederick VanTasell, 14 and Lemar C___, 12. Mr. and Mrs. VanTasell lived on a farm north of Troy Mills until 1929, when they moved to Independence, where they have since made their home. Mrs. VanTasell was a member of the Christian Church at Troy Mills. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. Her beautiful Christian character was always an inspriation to her friends. She was a member of the Willa Rebekah Lodge at Troy Mills. She leaves to mourn her going her husband; her father, Arthur Dudley; her mother preceded her in death June 29, 1915; her two sons, Arlo A. F. and Lemar C; two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Powell and Mrs. Dorothy Baty; three brothers, William R. Dudley, Walker; Clifford Dudley, Center Point; Lowell A. Dudley, Center Rapids.
