From The Wolbach Messenger, September 13, 1973, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Mae Prentice Dies Monday - Ella Mae Prentice, daughter of George and Minnie Hopkins Reeder, was born February 2, 1893 at Mount Ayr, Iowa. She received her education at Mount Ayr and at the age of 12 years she moved to Elmwood, Nebraska with her family where she grew to womanhood. On April 9, 1913 Mae was united in marriage to Fred Prentice at Plattsmouth, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Elmwood until 1931 at which time they moved to a farm in the Wolbach area. They remained on this farm until the death of Mr. Prentice in November of 1969. Mrs. Prentice then made Wolbach her home the rest of her life. She departed this life Monday, September 10, 1973 at the Howard County Community Hospital at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 8 days. Mrs. Prentice was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wolbach and a member of Priscilla Rebekah Lodge No. 299 of Belgrade. Mae was also the oldest member of the Happy Hour Club, being a member for 41 years. Mr. and Mrs. Prentice had celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in April of 1963. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Wilma Greek and Mrs. Opal Nielsen, both of Wolbach, Mrs. Margaret Hruska of Schulyer; two sons, Kenneth of Wolbach and Charles of Lexington; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Roelafsz of Alvo, Nebraska; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Walter and Ralph, one sister, Mrs. Maude Schneider, one daughter, Mrs. Nellie Stephenson and one great-grandson Chris Larsen.
