Bio

From The Wolbach Messenger, February 21, 1963, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Ralph Leroy Reeder was born at Elmwood, Nebraska, August 21, 1901. His parents were George Washington Reeder and Minnie Myrtle (Hopkins). On June 5, 1938, he was married to Mrs. Bernice (Hartford) Peterson, at Belleville, Kansas. To this union a son, Russell was born. Mr. Reeder was a baptized member of the Methodist Church in Wolbach. Mr. Reeder worked for Watson Brothers Transportation Co. of Omaha for 21 years, where he made an enviable record of 1,400,000 miles of safe driving, for which he received an award of a fine Bulova watch. On other occasions he was cited for giving road assistance to motorists in times of emergency. In 1954 Mr. Reeder and his family realized a long-time desire of his when they moved from Omaha to a farm near Belgrade, Nebraska. Here he reveled in happiness at living on the land. Ill health caused his hospitalization in 1961, and then removal to live in Grand Island. Mr. Reeder died suddenly at his home on Saturday night, February 9, 1963 at the age of 61 years, 5 months, 13 days. Mr. Reeder is survived by his wife Berneice, daughter, Mrs. Shirley (Reeder) Winther, Omaha; son Russel, Grand Island; stepsons William E. Peterson, Omaha, and Robert W. Peterson, Phoenix, Arizona; sisters Mrs. May Prentice, Wolbach; Mrs. Hazel Roelofsz, Alvo and Mrs. Maude Schneider of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews and many friends.
