From the Wolbach Messenger, November 27, 1969, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Fred Henry Prentice, son of Henry and Mae Prentice was born March 23, 1888 at Des Moines, Iowa. He departed this life on Neovember 20, 1969 at a Grand Island, Nebraska hospital, following a lingering illness, at the age of 81 years, seven months and 27 days. His parents died while he was still a child and he was raised by foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Luetchens of Murdock, Nebraska. It was there that he attended school and grew to manhood. On April 9, 1913, he was united in marriage to Mae Reeder at Plattsmouth. Following their marriage the couple resided in Elmwood. In 1931 they moved to a farm in the Wolbach area where they have since resided. Mr. Prentice was a member of the Methodist Church of Wolbach. Surviving are his wife, Mae of Wolbach; three daughters, Mrs. Wilma Greek and Mrs. Opal Nielsen, both of Wolbach, and Mrs. Margaret Huska of Schuyler; two sons, Charles of Broken Bow and Kenneth of Wolbach; three foster sisters, Mrs. Martha Vogt and Mrs. Hulda Oehlerking both of Elmwood and Mrs. Edna Guelker of Murdock; one foster brother, Harold Luetchens of Murdock; 19 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were one daughter, Nellie Stephenson, parents and foster parents.
