Starkey, 77, Buried at Palmer- William Starkey was born July 31, 1897 near Palmer, the son of Herbert and Kate Cargill Starkey. He attended grade school at Palmer and grew to manhood there. On August 17, 1918, he married Clara Samuelson at Palmer. The couple made their home on farms in Merrick and Howard County until 1933, when they moved to St. Paul. There Mr. Starkey was a dealer in iron and antiques. Survivors include his widow; one son, LaVerne of St. Paul; six daughters: Mrs. Bernice Grammer of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Mrs. Dorothy Ambroz of Grand Island, Mrs. Leila Hansen, Mrs. Betty Smith, Mrs. Lucile Graus and Mrs. Eileen Rowe, all of St. Paul; one sister, Mrs. Millie Smedra of St. Paul; one brother, Bruce of Palmer and 27 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one infant daughter and one grandson.
