Bio

Herschel A. Gregory of 924 Welch, a Denton County resident for 54 years, died in his home Friday at 3:30 pm. He had been ill about 5 years. He was 72. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm today in the Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Lonnie Voorhies, pastor, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. H. A. Johnson, pastor of Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Belew Cemetery under the direction on Goen Funeral Home. Born in Tennessee, January 9, 1888, Mr. Gregory was a retired farmer. He married Miss Gertie Dillon in Memphis, August 7, 1908. She died in 1916. He married Miss Willie Pearl Bostic who survives, in Aubrey on December 15, 1921. Other survivors include five sons: Henry Gregory, Norman Gregory, and James Gregory, all of Denton, Thomas Gregory of Amarillo and Lawrence Gregory of Navasota; one step son Emmett Eubanks of California. Seven daughters: Mrs Ruby Claytor, Miss Rita Fern Gregory, Miss Janice, and Miss Janice Inez Gregory, all of Denton (Personal note-just as in the paper Inez listed twice, Norma was left out), and Mrs. Dalsie Garrett of Abilene, Mrs. Vera Kirby of Dallas, and Mrs. Jimmie Pearl McBride of Irving. Three sisters; Mrs. Bart Blagg and Mrs Myrtle Cunningham of Denton and Mrs. Emma Ratliff of Cleburne; one brother C. H. Gregory of Denton; 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
