Bio

Son of Odis E and Mary Weems. The family lived in Commerce, Hunt County, Texas, according to the 1940 US Federal Census. Children on that census were: Winfred (18), Overtra (17), Norma Lee (14), John F (12), Joan [Jo Ann](7), and Freda (5). Also in the home were Frances Weems (70), Winfred's grandmother and Zima Weems (50), his aunt. He attended East Texas State Teachers College for one year prior to enlisting in the U S Army November 25, 1940 at Majors Field, Greenville, Texas.
