John Edd Weems, 85, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, in Arlington. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Arlington. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the University of TexasSouthwestern Medical School Willed Body Program or the Memorial Garden Fund at First United Methodist Church in Arlington. John (Johnny to many) was born April 21, 1928, to Otis and Mary Weems in Delta County. He was their fourth child of six. He graduated from Commerce High School in 1945 and moved to Dallas to work for the Federal Reserve Bank. There, he met his dear wife, Virginia Ruth Smith, and they married 65 years ago on March 28, 1948. They moved to Arlington in 1953. John retired from the Federal Reserve Bank after 41 years. He was a fun, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be dearly missed. Survivors: His wife of 65 years, Virginia Weems; sons, John David and James Michael and wife, Michelle; daughter, Brenda Ingram-Grubbs and husband, David Grubbs; grandchildren, Chris Weems, Jennifer DuLaney, Leslie Ingram, Clayton Grubbs, Clay Weems, Mandy Weems and Chelsea Renfro; great-grandchildren, Sakara Weems and Parker DuLaney; sister, Ovetra Covin; brothers-in-law, Crawford Smith and wife, Sophie, and Shirley Hooten; and many nieces and nephews.
