Fremont Tribune (Fremont, Nebraska) 24 May 1937, Mon Page 2 Mrs. James Cherny Is Called Sunday After Illness Life Spent in Vicinity of North Bend; Was Widely Known North Bend - Following an illness of about two weeks, Mrs. Mary Hines Cherny, 62, wife of James Cherny prominent North Bend farmer, died at a Fremont hospital early Sunday morning. She became ill two weeks ago and underwent a major operation. Mary Hines was born in Morse Bluff April 8, 1875, and she grew to womanhood in that vicinity. She was married to James Cherny April 3, 1892 at Wahoo, and the remainder of her life was spent on a farm east of North Bend. Surviving in addition to husband are two sons, Frank Cherny, North Bend, and James V. Cherny, Fremont, and a daughter, Miss Mildred Cherny, Hooper school teacher. A sister, Mrs. Anna Ruzicka, and a brother, Frank Hines, Morse Bluff, also survive. Another brother, Joseph B. Hines, Leigh, preceded her in death a few weeks ago. Mrs. Cherny was a member of the Eastern Star Ruth chapter of North Bend. The organization will conduct special services at the grave. Funeral services will be held at the farm home east of North Bend at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, with Rev. Phillippi of Clarkson officiating. Burial will be at the Killian cemetery southwest of Morse Bluff. The body will lie in state at the Drafahl Funeral Home in Fremont until Tuesday evening when it will be taken to the home.
