SERVICES SATURDAY FOR MARS. WHIPPLE Funeral services for Mrs. Alma Whipple, 87, were held March 25, at 2 p.m. at the Nelson Boylan Funeral Chapel in Red Oak with the Rev. Noel DeKalb, pastor of the Champion Hill Presbyterian church in charge. Mrs. Whipple, lifelong resident of Montgomery County and Red Oak resident since 1923, passed away March 21, at the Red Oak Hospital after a two weeks illness. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William John King (Alice Harbaugh), she was born in Montgomery County, July 25, 1879 and was married on January 20, 1904 in Montgomery County, Iowa to Glen Whipple, who passed away in 1923 southwest of Emerson. Survivors include a son, Robert in Red Oak, Mrs. Glenn Cooper, a daughter in Emerson; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brother, Stanley King of Red Oak; sister, Miss Elsie King of Red Oak; other relatives and a host of friends. Mrs. Whipple belonged to the Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the Emerson Cemetery. Malvern Leader, Malvern, Iowa, Thursday, March 30, 1967, page 8
