Bio
Son of Atha Adeline Liles (1828-1893) and Joseph Blackwell (1819-1879). He married Louisa in 1864 and had at least 13 children. In 1880, the family was living in Greens Creek, North Carolina (Polk County). The household included: John, age 35, born in North Carolina, a farmer; Louessa J., age 31, born in South Carolina; Nancy E., age 13, born in South Carolina; Sarah R. H., age 12, born in North Carolina; Joseph M., age 10, born in South Carolina; William H., age 10, born in North Carolina, John J., age 3, born in North Carolina; and Hattie W., age 2, born in North Carolina. In 1900, the family was living in Justice Precinct 3, Fannin County, Texas. His household included: John, born April 1845 in North Carolina of North Carolina parents, married 36 years, a farmer; his wife Lue, age 51, born December 1848 in South Carolina of South Carolina parents, married 36 years, nine living children of 13 born; his son George, born April 1881 in South Carolina; his daughter Minnie, born January 1886 in Texas; his son Walter, age 12, born September 1887 in Texas; Clara, his daughter, born June 1886 in Texas; and his son Tom, born August 1893 in Texas.
