Bio
Marion L. Darter, 66, of 408 N. Anderson, long-time county auditor, died early Tuesday at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital. She was born in Ellensburg on June 30, 1916, a daughter of the late Guy and Olive (Parkes) Darter. She was graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1934 and received her secretarial training at Kinman Business College in Spokane. She worked in Ellensburg for former Police Judge Phil Davidson, was secretary to the Kittitas County Superintendent of Schools, worked for 10 years as secretary to Ellensburg Attorney F. A. Kern and served for 22 years as Kittitas County Auditor until her retirement on July 31, 1977. Miss Darter was a member of the First Christian Church and Miriam Rebekah Lodge No. 25. She worked actively for many years in the interest of the Cancer Society and the American Red Cross. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Emma Utz of Ellensburg; two nephews, Bob Utz of Whidbey Island and Arne Utz of Arlington; and a number of cousins. Funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the IOOF cemetery. Friends who wish to attend may meet at the cemetery. The Rev. Bill Dietz and the Rev. Donald Meekhof will officiate. Friends who wish to pay their respects may call at the funeral home until noon Thursday. Family suggests memorials to the Cancer Society in care of Mrs. H. E. Railsback, 202 S.
