Bio

Funeral services for Guy H. Darter, 79, long-time Kittitas Valley resident, who died Saturday, October 18 at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Evenson Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Terry Figgins will officiate. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery. Mr. Darter was born October 24, 1889 in Surgoinsvile, Tennessee, and came to the Kittitas Valley from Tennessee in 1908. He was married to Olive O. Parkes in Ellensburg, October 29, 1910. He farmed in the Thorp area for many years and for several years was employed by the Northern Pacific Railroad. From 1931 until his retirement in 1958, he worked as a steam engineer for the Boise Cascade Company. Mr. Darter was a member of the New Testament Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Olive, at the family home, 304 S. Pearl; two daughters, Mrs. Allen Yutz and Miss Marion Darter, both of Ellensburg; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Roy Barett, Ellensburg; and a brother, Oscar Darter, Fredericksburg, VA.
