Was born to Leamor Jewell Tidwell, weighing in at 3 lbs in Myrtle Springs, Texas. She was raised by William Austin Bateman whom married Leamor when she was only a small child. She went through school under the name of Wynell Bateman even though she was never legally adopted by William Austin Bateman. She married James Buchanan Mitchell on September 2, 1950 after meeting him at her aunt, Dural Tidwell, boarding home where he was living along with his cousin, Dee Carroll. James and Wynell had 2 son's, James Victor and Roger Austin Mitchell and 1 daughter, Patricia Lynn Mitchell. At the time of death, she had 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She loved her family dearly and she was always happiest when surrounded by them. She will always be remembered by how she loved to decorate for Christmas and her chocolate pies and her favorite saying was "if having grandchildren were so much fun I would have had them first."
