William Herman Bateman, of Edgewood, Texas passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021, at the age of 82. Herman was born on June 19, 1938 in Myrtle Springs to the late William Austin Bateman and Leamor Jewell Tidwell. He was raised in Edgewood and graduated from Edgewood High School in 1956. Herman and his family lived in Wills Point and attended Wills Point Church of Christ. He moved to Farmers Branch for 30 years then came back to Edgewood to live out his final days. Herman worked at Sears, Queen City Chevrolet and operated and owned his own shop "Bateman Garage" in Wills Point in his earlier years. Then went to General Motors and retired after 30 years of service. Herman enjoyed stock car racing, horse races, family genealogy and videoing around Van Zandt County. To cherish his memories, Herman leaves behind sons, James Bateman and Leslie of Mesquite and Brian Bateman of Alba; daughters Vickie Scholten and Kevin of Wills Point, Lorie Barton and Mike of Edgewood, Carrie Lynn Bateman of Wills Point and Cassie Long and Joe of Euless; sister Ruby Clower of Grand Saline; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchildren; along with many other loving relatives and friends. Herman is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Anthony Batemen and Donnie Bateman; sister Wynell Mitchell; granddaughter Krystal Bateman. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Allan Fuller Funeral Home.
