Mrs. Mary Jares of Sweet Home died Monday night at 8:30 p.m., at the age of 80 years. Mrs. Jares (nee Migl), was the wife of the late L.W. Jares, who died four years ago. She was born in Czechoslovakia in March, 1850. She came to American in about 1865 as a young girl. Her parents, brothers and sisters, stayed in the old country. She worked and saved until she was able to pay for one of the sister's fare across the ocean. They helped each other, until finally the whole family located in America. On Dec. 27, 1872, she was married to L.W. Jares in the Catholic church at Praha. They first lived in that community, but a few years later they moved to Sweet Home, where they lived until their death. Six children were born to them, two dying in their childhood. The following survive: Anton of Yoakum, John J. of Lexington, Tom of Sinton, and Mrs. Chas. Kahanek of Sweet Home, and nine grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Anna Jakubik of Yoakum, Mrs. Jos. Hybner of Shiner and Mrs. A.J. Kallus of Wied, and three brothers, Frank Migl of Shiner, John and Joseph Migl of Praha. The funeral was held Wednesday morning with Requiem High Mass by Father Kuratko, assisted by Fathers Beck of Yoakum and Benes of St. Ann's, at the Catholic church at Sweet Home. Her body was then tenderly laid to rest by the side of her husband. Father Beck spoke in English and Father Benes in Bohemian at the church, and Father Kuratko delivered a touching sermon in Bohemian and English at the grave. The members of the St. Ludmila's Society of which the deceased was a valued member, being the chairman since its organization some 25 years ago, escorted the remains to the grave. The pall-bearers were: Emil Pesek, Adolph Jakubik, I.E. Valenta, J.L. Hough, John Pesek, and O.E. Hermies. The deceased was liked by everyone who knew her. She was always helping the needy, and kind to everybody. She was very pious and devoted to her church. She was an aunt to Mrs. J.J. Netardus and F.W. Jares of our city. The New Era-Herald extends heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved. Among those from a distance who attended the funeral of Mrs. Marie Jares were: Adolph Jakubik and daughter Helen of Taylor, Adolph Horak and daughter Lillie of Granger, Mr. and Mrs. Vic Pribyl, Mr. and Mrs. Bed. Pribyl and Sister M. Aloisius of Victoria, Mrs. J.S. Zvesner and daughter Beata of Schulenburg, Mrs. J.F. Zvesner of LaGrange, and all of Mrs. Jares' brothers, sisters, and their children's families from Praha, Flatonia, Moulton, Shiner, Yoakum and Hallettsville, which are too numerous to mention.
