He married Anna Merenda in 1924. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ John Aimer, 79, of 1010 Dallas, a retired farmer, died Friday, June 3 at a Waco hospital. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, the Rev. Frank Miller as celebrant. Burial was at St. Martin's Cemetery in Tours. Mr. Aimer was born April 4, 1904, near Tours, and had lived in the West area most of his life. He was a retired farmer and textile mill employee, and a Catholic. He was a member of SPJST Lodge No. 6 in Cottonwood. Survivors include four sons, Ernest Aimer of Huntsville, Ala., Alphonse Aimer of Orange, Calif., Alvin J. Aimer of Northcrest and Joseph S. Aimer of Bellmead; a daughter, Mrs. Ed (Frances) Barton of China Spring; a sister, Mrs. Pauline Merenda of West; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jerry Merenda, Leo Koerner, Alfred Vrba, Floyd Horton, Louis Vrba and Nick Tusa. The West News, June 9, 1983 [Transcription courtesy of Joan Nors]
