Bio
Pauline A. Merenda, age 89, of 911 North Marable Street in West, died early Friday afternoon, April 19, 1991 at Providence Hospital in Waco. Mrs. Merenda was born September 21, 1901 in Tours, the daughter of Joseph and Theresa Aimer. She lived in the West area most of her life. She was a homemaker and worked for the West Cotton Mill and the Village Bakery for many years. She was a member of the West Catholic Daughters of America and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. She is preceded in death by one son, Wilfred Merenda, who died September 16, 1980. Survivors include four sons, Jerry Merenda of Waco, Edward Merenda of Orlando, Florida, Ray Merenda of West and Herb and Cheryl Merenda of Chandler; three daughters, Irene and Marvin Hegar of Waco, Mary Ann and Leo Koerner of Mesquite and Dottie and Bob Smith of Ruston, Louisiana; one daughter-in-law, Jo Merenda of Houston; 20 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. A rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Saturday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Msgr. George Doskocil. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Martin's Cemetery near Tours. Active paulbearers were Marvin Hegar, Jr., Jerome Merenda, Keith Koerner, Mike Merenda, Bobby Smith and Mark Merenda. Honorary pallbearers were David Hegar, Ed Merenda, Kerry Koerner and Kevin Koerner. Memorials may be made to the West Catholic Daughters of America.
