Bio

Samuel H. Tidd, 88, of 1418 Eagle St., Franklin, died at 9:25 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Oct. 17, 1916, in Franklin. He was the son of Raymond I. and Maude Ramsey Tidd. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Tidd retired in 1983 after 38 years as a machinist for Joy Manufacturing. He attended the First Baptist Church in Franklin for more than 75 years and the Royal Bible Class of the church. Mr. Tidd was a former member of the Franklin Odd Fellows. He was an avid hunter. He was married Nov. 1, 1938, to Freda V. Tidd, who survives. Also surviving are two sons and their wives, James A. and Bonnie Tidd of Grove City and Larry A. and Peggy Tidd of Franklin; five grandchildren, Michael Tidd and wife, Beth, of McDonald, Bradley Tidd and wife, Catherine, of Parker, Colo., Brenda Petroff and husband, Mark, of Erie, Jeremy Tidd of Grove City and T.J. Tidd of Franklin; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tidd was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard A. Tidd, Lyle Tidd, Harold E. Tidd and Lawrence Tidd; one sister, Edith Burns; and one grandson, Jeffrey Tidd. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Dr. Eddie M. Rape, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Franklin, officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. Michael B. Tidd, grandson of the deceased. Interment will be in the Franklin Cemetery. The Derrick, August 24, 2005
