Lauren A. "Larry" Tidd, 68, of 102 Union St., Franklin, died at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at his residence. Born May 3, 1944, in Franklin, Larry was the son of the late Samuel and Freda V. (Hurd) Tidd. He was married Aug. 10, 1974, to Peggy L. Jones, and she preceded him in death Jan. 2, 2010. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War era, and he served aboard the USS Nitro. Larry retired from Joy Manufacturing after working 32 years as a machinist. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, shooting and hunting. Larry is survived by his sons, Michael Tidd of Ashtabula, Ohio, and Trevor "T.J." Tidd of Pittsburgh; his brother, James Tidd and wife Bonnie of Grove City; and his grandchildren, Hannah and Evan Tidd of McDonald. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Family and friends of Larry will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., 1315 Chestnut St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held following visitation at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. William Hastings, pastor of Seneca United Methodist, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Visiting Nurses Foundation, 491 Allegheny Blvd., Franklin, 16323.
