Bio

Alfred was the son of William Smith and Nancy Boyd. He married first Helena Murff, 14 October 1841, Lauren County, South Carolina. Helena was the daughter of Randolph S. and Elizabeth Hannah Murff. They moved to Monroe County, Mississippi. Their children were Clarenda/Clarinda Elizabeth Hollingsworth, Mary Rebecca Murff, David Hilery Smith, Willie/Wylie Marion Smith, Randolph Murff Smith, Margaret A. Smith, and George Washington Smith. Alfred returned to South Carolina and married Helena's sister, Elizabeth Murff Findley after Helena's death.
