Bio
Maria Jackson was a daughter of Robert Jackson and Jane or Jasie Thornton. She was born at Haggate, Burnley, Lancashire, England. As Maria Jackson she married Thomas Normington September 29, 1839 in Altham, Lancashire, England. They immigrated to the United States of America and in 1856 joined the Mormon exodus to Utah. They were members of the Martin Handcart Company. Thomas Normington died in October or November 1856 near the Platte river in Wyoming. After her arrival in Salt Lake City, she married John Parker, Jr. as a plural wife. At the time of this marriage, her name was Maria Jackson Normington. John Parker, Jr. and Maria had two children, Richard and Maria. The date of her burial is March 20, 1881. Sources of the data are personal records of W. Bruce Hilton, the L.D.S. Ancestral File, and the L.D.S. International Genealogical Index. The death certificate of Lovenia Normington Wright gives the name of her mother as Hannah Maria Jackson.
