Bio

~ This is a Monument Memorial only ~ NN stands for "No Name" because this was an unnamed infant, who probably died a few hours after birth. He was a son of Maria Jackson and Thomas Normington of England. They immigrated in 1856. They left Burnley and went 30 miles to Liverpool and sailed on the SS Horizon with 856 other LDS Church members, arriving in Boston, Massachusetts 30 June 1856. Five of their children sailed with them. They arrived in Iowa City on July 8th. This sixth child was born on the Great Plains. He was born shortly after the Martin Handcart Company left Florence, Nebraska. His family was traveling with other LDS Church members, headed for the Great Salt Lake Valley in Utah Territory. They would have been crossing the Territory now known as Saunders County, just west of Omaha when he was born and died. He was the last child of Maria and Thomas, as Thomas would die early that November, just as the family neared Utah Territory, somewhere near Martin's Cove Encampment in western Wyoming Territory.
