Greenville (Texas) Herald Banner, Wed, 1 Apr 1992, page A2, Obituaties (sic), Zora Tanton Zora Hilburn Tanton of Greenville died Monday at Citizens General Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Crider officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery. She was born on Dec. 16, 1911, in Upshur County to Rayford and Dolly Ellis Hilburn. She married Melvin V. Tanton on April 28, 1928, in the Piney Grove community. She was a member of Mineral Heights Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband; sons Melvin V. Tanton Jr. of Rockwall, Wayne Tanton of Waxahachie and Jerry Tanton and David Tanton of Greenville; daughters Linda Causey and Lisa Tanton of Greenville, Margaret Fouse of Royse City and Ruth Swanson of Dallas; brothers William L. Hilburn of Como and Ray Hilburn of Tyler, sisters Dora Winchester of Sulphur Springs, Hazel Culver and Helen Johnson of Fort Worth, Nadine Wilson of San Angelo and Gussie Farrish of Winnsboro; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Morris, in 1951. Pallbearers will include Billy Tanton, Scott Stringer and David Roberts.
