Lawrence S. "Bapa" Jackson, son of J.J. and Dora Jackson, transitioned out of this life and into the hands of his Creator and Master on April 13, 2010 at home in Waco, Texas. Born in Fairfield, Texas on November 24, 1918, Lawrence grew up and graduated high school in Levelland, Texas. Lawrence is survived by wife Eva who also grew up in Levelland. Lawrence and Eva would have celebrated their 70th anniversary on May 5th. He is also survived by daughter Sandi Walrath and husband, Jerry, of Waco, Texas; son Larry Jackson and wife, Kathi, of Rowlett, Texas; son Doug Jackson and wife, Nelda, of Niceville, Florida; brother Clarence Jackson of Lamesa, Texas and brother Fred Jackson and wife, Elsie, of Dumas, Texas; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Lawrence is preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Lawrence served in the United States Navy 1944-1946. After the war, he worked as a postman in Long Beach, California until 1958 when he joined his brother, Junnier, in a business partnership in Lamesa, Texas, Jackson Brothers' Automotive. Lawrence and Eva retired to Waco, Texas in 1998. Lawrence was a deacon at Park Lake Drive Baptist Church. The eternal optimist, Lawrence loved God, his family, and every person he ever met. Likewise, he was much-loved. He will be missed. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service at Park Lake Drive Baptist Church on Sunday, April 18, 2010, at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Bluebonnet Hospice or Park Lake Drive Baptist Church are encouraged.
