DUMAS — Freddie Maurice Jackson, 83, passed on June 6, 2015. Services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at First Baptist Church, 5th & Bliss, in Dumas. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox Ave. Fred was born on May 5, 1932, to JJ. and Dora Jackson in Levelland, TX. He is survived by his wife, Elsie and two children; Kevin Jackson of Waco, and daughter, Carolyn Nelson and husband Gary of SW of Dumas. In addition, the five grandchildren are Kyle and Kory Jackson, and Kayla, Blake and Trey Nelson. Fred graduated from Texas Tech University in 1953 with a degree in Agronomy. He served a short time in the military and soon after, Fred and Elsie made Dumas their home. Agriculture played a role in his life for over 50 years. He was in the irrigation business for a number of years, then he and Elsie were actively involved in the local Farmers' Market. He was well known for his excellent cantaloupe and tomatoes. Fred was the last surviving sibling of eight children. He was preceded in death by Effie McMillan and Geraldine Hill of Levelland, Lawrence Jackson of Waco, Clarence and Junnier Jackson of Lamesa, Pete Jackson of Levelland, and Jack Jackson of San Antonio. There are numerous surviving nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank so many who have already shown love and support during this difficult time in so many ways.
