Bio

Son of Josesph Lafayette & Elizabeth A "Betsey" (Madden) Stewart. -- Family tradition is that "Hill" said the reason that he never married is that all the Stewart girls had married Lyons boys, and were all taken. The Stewarts & Lyons were some of the first settlers in Karnes Co., TX. -- All Joseph and Elizabeth Stewart's children were born at "Buzzard Roost" now known as Mel Rose, near Weesatche, DeWitt Co, TX. During this period there were not towns, just trading posts.
