Dau of Joseph Lafayette & Elizabeth A "Betsey" (Madden) Stewart, married Samuel Bridges Yates 9 Oct 1879 Goliad, TX -- All Joseph and Elizabeth Stewart's children were born at "Buzzard Roost" now known as Mel Rose, near Weesatche, DeWitt Co, TX. During this period there were not towns, just trading posts. -- Obit: Runge, Karnes Co, TX News, 30 Jun 1898 "After a comparatively short illness, Mrs. Elizabeth Yates, wife of Mr. S. B. Yates, died at their home in Runge last Friday morning at 2 o'clock, of typhoid fever".
