OBITUARY - EDITH A. HUTCHINS Mrs. Edith Arnold Hutchins of Dayton, a teacher in the Rhea County and Dayton City School systems for 46 years died in a Chattanooga hospital Thursday, May 27. Mrs. Hutchins began her teaching career at the old Meadow View School in 1923 and retired from Dayton City School in 1969 She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was a lifelong resident of the Salem Community and an active member of the Salem Baptist Church, serving as pianist, church clerk and treasurer. She was the daughter of John H. and Ida Shaver Arnold and was preceded in death by her husband, Traynor Hutchins. Survivors include four sisters, Elmira Green, Leona Blevins and Reba Fitzgerald, all of Dayton, and Mabel Walker, Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Gordon Arnold, Dalton, Georgia, and Reeford Arnold, Red Bank; several nieces and nephews. Services were held Sunday, May 30, in Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald and the Rev. David Hudson and Dr. Patterson Ellis officiating. Burial was in Shaver Cemetery.
