Reba Arnold Fitzgerald, 93, died on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at Deer Ridge Apartments.She was a lifelong resident of Rhea County and an active member of Salem Baptist Church in Dayton. A graduate of Bryan College, she began her studies there with the first class in 1930. She retired from Rhea County Schools in 1978 after teaching for 22 years.She was the daughter of the late John and Ida Shaver Arnold and the widow of Clyde Fitzgerald Sr.She is survived by her children, the Rev. Clyde (Joyce) Fitzgerald, Arnold (ViElla) Fitzgerald, Jim (Dianna) Fitzgerald and Rebecca (Truman) Tucker, all of Dayton; grandchildren, Julie Harris, of Wahiawa, Hi., Janet O'Neal, of Rock Spring, Ga., Scott Tucker, of Knoxville, Jason Fitzgerald, Jeremy Fitzgerald and Andy Tucker, all of Dayton; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald, the Rev. Barry Walls and the Rev. Rusty Revis officiating. Burial will be in Shaver Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at Salem Baptist Church.The family will receive friends after 1 p.m. Monday.Arrangements are by Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home, Dayton. ∼ Reba Katherine, after graduating from Rhea Central High School, attended Bryan College. She began her teaching in Rhea County in 1956 in the Garrison community with the remainder of her teaching years spent at Frazier School until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma professional education society and the Retired Teachers Association. Miss Reba, as she was known by all her students, was also a member of the Salem Community and Salem Homemakers Clubs for many years, being a Rhea County Homemaker of the Year honoree. Reba Katherine and her husband Clyde were active members of the Salem Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. She was often soloist at special activities throughout the community. Reba and Clyde were the parents of four children.
