Bio

Wellington Leader September 29, 1983 Miss Lena Ball, 83, who was employed as a saleswoman for department and dry goods stores in Wellington for approximately 50 years, died in Collingsworth General Hospital at 5:25 p.m. Sunday, September 25. She came to Wellington as a 7 year old girl and this was her home for the remainder of her life. In the 1920's, she was employed by the late Webb Moore in his dry goods store and then by the late John Forbis in his store. For many years she worked for Ennis Schaded, now of Tyler, in his department store, then for Percy Wells Department Store. She closed out her long sales career for Mack Saied at Saied's Department Store. She retired several years ago. Miss Ball was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was born February 9, 1900 in Cave City, Arkansas, the daughter of John Henry Ball and Nancy Eason Ball. The family came to the Wellington area in 1907 from Arkansas. She attended Collingsworth county schools. Survivors are a brother, Jack Ball, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by these brothers and sisters: Miss Lee Ball, Henry Ball, Oma Clark, Pearl Ball and Oren and Owen Ball.
