Bio

Bob was united in marriage to Pauline Rosine Merckle on Nov. 12, 1891 in Wheeling, West Virginia. They made their home in Sardis, Ohio, where Bob was a farmer and a part-time riverboat crewman. Later he got into the oil business in West Virginia. The family moved to Augusta, Kansas where the family continued in the oil business. Bob and his sons worked in the oil fields near Hutchinson and Nickerson. In 1938 one January day, Bob was getting ready to drive to the oil fields from his home in Augusta. He owned a Buick station wagon into which he was loading the heavy equipment when he suffered an attack. He was put to bed and died alone on January 28, 1938, age 75.
