Romulus Hicks Anderson,82, one of the best loved and most highly respected residents of the Smith Spring community where he had loved for eighteen years, died at his home there Monday morning, July 19, at 9:50 o'clock following an illness of several weeks' duration. Funeral services were held at the family residence Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, with Rev. E. H. Lightfoot of Cleburne, presiding elder of the Methodist churches in the rites. Rev. S. L. Weems, pastor of Smith Spring Methodist church of which Mr. Anderson was a member, assisted at the service. Others assisting Rev. Lightfoot and Rev. Weems were Rev. S. L. Culwell, pastor of the First Methodist church, Stephenville, and Rev. W. A. Richardson, a former pastor of Tarleton Avenue Christian Church Stephenville, who now lives at Acrea, Special music was given by the young people of the Sunday school at Smith Spring Methodist Church were Mr. Anderson had been superintendent for a long number of years. One of the special numbers sung by this group of young people was "When I Come to the End of My Dreams," which was one of Mr. Anderson's favorite hymns. Higginbotham Funeral Home had charge of all arrangements. Pallbearers were John E. Burnett, Tam Chandler, O. R. Childress, Claud Russell, Oren Ellis, A. A. Schrimshire. Flower girls were Ocie Howard, Grace Barnes, Leona Coleman, Mary Richards, Zelma Howard, Lois Woolverton, Ila Vaye Howard, Stella Mae Wood, Beryl Woolverton and Mary Dora McCowan. Burial was made in East End cemetery beside the grave of his wife, who died July 9, 1935. R. H. Anderson was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Anderson of Barnardsville, NC.., where he was born November 12 1854. He was reared at Barnardsville and was married there January 14, 1880 to Miss Harriet Ingle. They came to Texas a number of years ago, settling in Denton County. In 1919 Mr. Anderson and family moved to Erath County to a farm he had bought in the Smith Spring community seven miles northeast of Stephenville where the family home was established and where he was living at the time of his death. He was the father of three children, who survive him. All of the children were with him in his last illness and were at his bedside when death came.Besides his two daughters and son, Mrs. W. W. Sherrill of Lewisville, A. F. Anderson of Stephenville and Mrs. J. A. Tucker, Sr., of Albany, Mr. Anderson is survived by thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is survived also by two brothers, C. F. Anderson, Detroit, Texas; S. R. Anderson, Shreveport, La; two Mrs. Ann Ray, Burnsville, NC. C. and Mrs. Forrest Britton, Asheville, NC. C. The surviving grandchildren are Arris Anderson, Robert Hicks Billy Joe Anderson, Stephenville; J. A. Tucker, Jr., Albany; Misses Lula Belle, Juanita, Billie and Wilma Jo Tucker, Albany; Cuyler Tucker, Comanche; Miss Harriet Sherrill, Lewisville; Raymond Tucker, Leuders; Mrs. Clarence Carter, Albany. Out-of-town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Sherrill and daughter, Harriet, Lewisville; Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Tucker, Albany, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Tucker, Jr. and little daughter, Betty June, Misses Lula Belle, Juanita, Billie and Wilma Jo Tucker, Albany; Mr. and Mrs. Cuyler Tucker and son, Bradford, Comanche; S. R. Anderson, Shreveport; a niece, Mrs. Winnie Hensley, Commerce, and a nephew, Theo Anderson, Henderson
