Emma Francis "Fannie" Foster------1916 Richard maintained THE Bible Record of the births and deaths of his siblings, and his parents marriage date. His listed his mother as Marthia Olivia White and beside this "(Nea Harris"). The record was kept in a 1925 New Testament Bible Version. He kept it up until his death in 1956, we believe his wife Illie maintained it and at some point passed it to Rex's brother Leo & wife Sally, after their deaths, to their daughter Frances White Townsend, and then to one of her two living sons, who now cares for the bible. Inserted into this bible was a 1934 article celebrating the 82nd birthday of Richard's mother Marthia, see her memorial to view this article. Richard came from a Pioneer family whose roots were in Union Co SC, arrived in Bowie Co, 1846. He took care of both of his parents, in their later years, caring for their needs, arranging their funerals, and arranging their grave marker. =========================== A Cyclone (Tornado) destroyed Maud TX May 4, 1914, brothers Leo, Rex and Charles made contributions to relief effort: LOCAL CONTRIBUTIONS: Patriotic citizens of Maud and vicinity, who escaped the storm without loss of life or property have generously donated the following to our unfortunate fellow townsmen: LEO WHITE $3.00 REX WHITE $2.00 C T WHITE $1.00 **This was a lot of money to donate in this time period** =========================== Obituary: Texarkana Gazette June 4, 1958 ------ Rex R White Rex R White, 68, of Maud Texas died at 1:25pm Tuesday in the Texarkana Hospital after a short illness.
