Bio

Mrs. Anna Elizabeth Nicholai Schroth, aged 60 years, wife of Charles Schroth of Saxonburg, died at the family residence at 12:15 o'clock yesterday afternoon after a three days' illness. Death was due to a heart condition. Mrs. Schroth with her husband had for years conducted the Schroth Gladioli gardens at Saxonburg and yearly raised 100,000 bulbs. She was also known throughout the state as a turkey fancier, having exhibited turkeys throughout the state at fairs and exhibitions and had won many prizes with her exhibits. She was born in Heson, Germany in 1875 and came to America when a year and a half old with her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nicholai. The family removed to Southside Pittsburgh, until she was 16 years of age when they removed to Nebraska. She remained only a short time in Nebraska, returning to Pittsburgh, where she married Charles Schroth in 1911. Their Built their home and have since resided in Saxonburg. Mrs. Schroth is survived by her husband, four brothers and three sisters in Nebraska. Funeral services will be held from the family home in Saxonburg at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon with Rev. William K. Geese, pastor of the Saxonburg Memorial Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Saxonburg Cemetery. Obituary: Butler Eagle - Saturday, August 17, 1935 pg. 5
