Decatur Daily Review 1/4/1946 Mrs. Mary Edna Meriweather widow of the late John A. Merriweather,former president of the National Bank of Decatur died today in St. Marys hospital at the age of 87. She had been in failing health for several years suffering from arterial sclerosis. She became seriously ill last month and entered the hospital Dec. 13. She had been unconscious since Dec. 22. She was born Aug 18, 1852 near Antioch station. She was the daughter of the late Rev. John W. Tyler,pioneer minister in Macon county. She was married about 66 years ago to Mr. Meriweather and for many years they lived on Main street. Mr. Meriweather died in Maroa in 1932. For the past year she had lived in the home of her son,Dr. Tyler in Decatur. Surviving are Dr. Tyler,daughter,Mrs.Charles W. Kent of Los Angeles,sisters,Miss Alice S. Tyler of Cleveland,Ohio,Mrs. Bettie Tyler Cook of Denver,Colo.one grandchild and one great grandchild. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
