Fort Bend Herald, December 30, 2004: Funeral services for Henry J. Hundl of Rosenberg, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg, with interment following at West Gethsemane Cemetery in Rosenberg at Hwy. 36. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg with visitation from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Henry was born Nov. 9, 1916 in Alief and passed away Dec. 28, 2004 from respiratory illness. He was preceded in death by parents, John and Mary Hundl; sister, Mary Beran; and brothers, John, Emil, and Raymond Hundl. Mr. Hundl is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Viola Hundl; and four children, Diane Smith and husband, Ben, Rick Hundl and wife, Debbie, Michael and wife, Debbie, and Mariellen Wenzel and husband, Charlie; grandchildren, Melanie Smith Kennedy, Darren Smith, Justine Hundl, Brian Hundl, Jessica Hundl , Heather Hundl, Hailey Hundl, Hannah Hundl, Trey Wenzel, Ashley Wenzel, and Kaydey Wenzel; and by his faithful dog, Taco. Henry served in the U.S. Army from January 1940 until August 1945. During WWII he drove an ambulance for the 36th Division. His tour of duty took him to Naples, Rome, Southern France, and the Rhineland. Henry was employed for Jefferson Lake Sulphur Co. and WKM before retiring. Here at home he was a devoted member of the American Legion Post 271, VFW Post 3903, Sons of Hermann, and the KJT. Henry's favorite pastimes were fishing, playing dominoes, grafting fruit trees, and dancing. Every Thursday he would help his wife and the VFW Auxiliary when seniors played bingo at their adopted nursing home. Serving as pallbearers for the service are Trey Wenzel, Brian Hundl, Darren Smith, Jerry Hundl, Duane Hundl, James Hundl, Myron Hundl, Adolph Beran, and Gilbert Hundl. Funeral services are under the direction of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd. in Rosenberg. 281-341-8800.
