Bio

Moody T. Thrasher, 93, died Friday, Jan. 9, 1987 at Danforth Hospital in Texas City. Local service will be at the chapel of James Crowder Funeral Home of La Marque. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at Quanah Memorial Park in Quanah, Texas. Masonic services will be held at both the chapel and graveside services. Mr. Thrasher was born December 2, 1893 in Paris, Texas. He was involved in various business ventures in Quanah before moving to Galveston in 1939. He was a retired federal employee from U.S. Public Health Service Hospital and also worked as a clerk at the Playground Motel in Galveston after retirement from federal service. Mr. Thrasher was a veteran of World War I, a member of Masonic Harmony Lodge No. 5 of Galveston and a member of the First Baptist Church of Galveston. Survived by a sister, Ozella Barker of Childress. Also survived by six nieces, five nephews, a great-niece, and three great-nephews upon whom he showered much love, wisdom, and attention and was greatly loved and respected by them all. --Extracted from obituary published in The Galveston (TX) Daily News , Jan. 11, 1987, p.4A, col.2
