Thomas Jefferson Thrasher came to Quanah from Sanger, Texas (Denton County) in January of 1906. He went to work for the late L. D. Smith Blacksmith Shop for $3.00 a day. This was big wages then. The family arrived on February 6, 1906 on the 6 P.M. train from Sanger, Texas. They spent the first two days in Quanah at the Cottage Hotel. The Hotel was located across the tracks from the Fort Worth and Denver Depot. The hotel was operated by Mr. & Mrs. J. L. Willis. They were former friends of ours from Denton County. This hotel burned down and later Mr. & Mrs. Willis built a larger hotel on the same sight [sic] and later it burned. Mrs. Willis still lives in Quanah and operates the Dollman Hotel.
