Last rites for Mrs. Flora Mertie Ennis, 93, will be held Friday at Quanah Memorial Park. Rev. Loren Williams, pastor of the First Christian Church, will officiate. Knowles Funeral Home is in charge of last arrangements. Mrs. Ennis, a Hardeman County pioneer, and wife of an early day restaurant owner, passed away unexpectedly in Hardeman County Memorial Hospital Monday night. Born Jan. 15, 1881 in Paris, Texas, she came to Hardeman County in 1906 and married the late Jason Albert Ennis in 1907. Mr. Ennis passed away in 1930. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Lillie Marie Woods of San Francisco, Calif.; five sons, Earley Patrick Ennis of Quanah, Thomas J. Ennis of San Diego, Calif., Albert M. Ennis of Fresno, Calif., Moody T. Ennis of Ontario, Calif., and Harry Curtis Ennis of Fresno, Calif.; also one brother Moody Thrasher of Galveston; three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Edmonds of Hawthorne, Calif., Mrs. Ozella Barker and Mrs. Greeba Orr, both of Fort Worth, and nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. --Extracted from obituary published in the Quanah (TX) Tribune-Chief , Aug. 1, 1974, p.7, col.4
