Bio
Bernhard (Ben) was born in Wongrowity, Province of Posen, Germany. He was the fourth child and second son born to Gottlieb and Juliana Wentland Kerlin. At the age of 17 he came to America with his parents arriving on May 22, 1883. After a short stay in the State of Minnesota, Bernard came to Travis County, Texas with his parents in the fall of 1883. Ben married Emilie Roeglin Kerlin on December 7, 1892. They were married in the Richland church by Pastor T. H. Horstmann, the first Kerlin's to be married in the church. Until his death he and Emilie made their home in the Richland community on their farm adjacent to the Klotz farm. Their children were: Helena Anna, Elsa Auguste Amanda, Dora Bertha Mathilde, Emma Maria Alwine and Bernhard Gustav Albert. Bernhard died in Taylor, Texas.
