Bio

Juliana was born in Sarbka, Province of Posen, West Prussia. Her brother was Wilhelm Wentland. She married Gottlieb Kerlin who died on September 30, 1886 from a wagon accident while hauling wood. Juliana was left a widow with a large family to raise. Their children were Wilhelmine, Matilda, Julius, Bernhard Rudolf, Edward, Emil, Bertha Ida and Luise Emilie. Gottlieb lost his life in a wagon accident while hauling wood. He is buried in the Richland Cemetery and the stone pictured is the grave stone for Gottlieb. Juliana died in California and is buried in the Galt Cemetery near Lodi (source: Gary Pemberton reference to "A Study of the Descendants of Jakob Friedrich Herzer 1753-1975", p. 235, by Mrs. John Herzer).
