Bio

Philip was born August 15, 1892, at Pleasanton. He was the son of Henry and Frances Hajek Munster. He attended school at District 109 near Pleasanton. In 1917, he married Lillian Busse who passed away in 1954. He later married Marie Larsen and they made their home on a farm, near Pleasanton. While living on his farm near the South Loup River in the 1930's, Philips became interested in collecting Indian artifacts which he found in the area of the river made visible by the strong winds during that time. Between 1937 and 1953 he dug out two prehistoric Indian lodges. Philips enjoyed exhibiting his finds to anyone who visited his home, especially school children. He was also a taxidermist and early photographer. Philip and Marie later made their home in Ravenna where she died in 1978 and Philip died in 1983. Philip was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Survivors are a brother, Henry of Pleasanton; four sister, Berth and Helen Unick and Frances Krotz, all of Pleasanton, and Anna Anderson of Sidney; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
