Woodrow W. Bailey, 81, of Paris died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, at McCuistion Regional Medical Center. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Sep. 1st, at Calvary United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gifford Long and the Rev. Glynn Vickers officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home. Mr. Bailey will lie in state at the funeral home Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. The family will receive friends at the residence from 6-8:00 p.m. Monday. Mr. Bailey was born April 28, 1917, in the Amherst community in Lamb County to Early Jasper and Alva Emogine Coker Bailey. He retired from Superior Switchboard where he worked for 20 years as an inspector for quality control. He served in the Air Force during World War II and was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and its Loyalty Sunday School Class. He married Wilma Mae Jezek in 1949 in Port Lavaca, Calhoun Co. Tx. Surviving is his wife, Wilma; two children, Beverly Ann Bailey Proffer and Jerry Earl Bailey, both of Paris; three grandchildren, Anna Beth Proffer and Brian Proffer of Paris and April Bailey of Paris; one great-grandchild, Tyler Joe Proffer of Paris; and a brother, J. L. Bailey of Paris. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers and sisters; Morris S., Jasper E., Beatrice Norrell, Hugh Q.(Ban), and Helen Logan. Pallbearers will be Rick Vance, Jerome Chapman, Ron Marlin, Danny Proffer, Wesley Cantrell, and Brian Proffer. Honorary bearers will be members of the Loyalty Sunday School Class.
