Topeka Capital-Journal May 12, 2002 p. 5B Phyllis Shufeldt Phyllis Shufeldt, 71, Topeka, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at a Topeka hospice house. She was born June 13, 1930, in North Star, Nebraska; the daughter of Jonas Allen Orender and Eltha Helen Holley Orender. She had lived in Kansas since 1958. Mrs Shufeldt played the guitar and sang in many churches and nursing homes. She also maintained contact with pen-pals in 30 states. She was a member of Western Hills Baptist Church. She was married to Lyle Wayne Shufeldt on Aug. 6, 1947, in Fullerton, Nebraska. He died Feb. 27, 1995. Survivors include a son, Loren Shufeldt, Lisbonn, Conn; and two daughters; Theresa Segura, Maple Hill, Kans, and Llaina McCullough, Topeka, Kans. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Western Hills Baptist Church. Burial will be at the West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs Shufeldt will lie in state from 1 to 8 p.n. Monday at the Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home where visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice House Aviary Fund, 200 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas, 66606; or to Western Hills Baptist Church, 2900 S.W. Auburn Road, Topeka, Kansas, 66614
