PALESTINE: Services for William M. "Blackie" Redding, 79, Route 1. West Columbia, are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Hassell & Foster Funeral chapel in Palestine with Doug Stevens officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood City Cemetery. He will be in the funeral home upon arrival Friday evening. Mr. Redding died Wednesday night in the Sweeny hospital after a sudden illness. He was born in Texas, Aug. 31, 1905. Prior to retiring, he was a mechanic for Missouri Pacific Railroad, a Baptist and a member of the Teamsters Union. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Julian Irons Redding, West Columbia; two sons, Gordon M. Redding, Bloomington, Ill., and Curtis Redding, West Columbia; a sister, Mrs. Nancy Killebrew, Frankston: two brothers, Ben Redding, Frankston, and Alfred Redding, Greenville; three grandchildren.
